No one builds a building without a blueprint drafted by an architect. Neither should you build a website without a "Project Map" which is our version of a blueprint. We will walk you through several phases of a discovery process. On completion of this journey you will have a detailed blueprint that any architect can follow to build you exactly what will best server your companies goals and communicate in a way that reaches your target market.
In order for a project to be successful we need to be able to keep that project moving forward. We will establish project officers who will be responsible for various tasks and making decisions related to:
1) General Project Correspondence
4) Final Veto
This can be one person or several. We need to know who to contact related to each element so that we can be efficient with our time as well as meet deadlines.
A project administration document that clearly defines roles and contact information for each administrator assigned to this project
Understanding your identity and being able to communicate that clearly provides the very foundation that all building blocks will be laid upon. Personality can manifest itself in an interface through visual design, copy, and interactions, so we create a design persona which describes the methods of channeling personality in each of these areas. This will help a team of web professionals construct a unified and consistent result. This is crucial information for the selection of the building materials we use and will direct everything we create. During this phase we will research:
1) Who are you and what makes you unique in your field?
2) How have you been communicating that message?
3) Who is your primary and secondary target audience?
4) Is your current brand/identity working?
A design persona and a document with suggested changes to strengthen your branding in order to reach your target audience and further extend your reach
A clear statement of the project goals will help avoid any miscommunication and insure that nothing is left out in our approach to help you reach your goals. This will ensure that we are on the same page as we move forward with the design of everything we create for you.
1) What design goals emerge for this project from understanding your brand?
2) Are those goals universal or specific to this project?
3) Are there specific goals that are unique to the different elements that make up the project? (Website, Media, Collateral, etc.)
A clear statement of the project goals as we understand them for your approval, including why each element of the project exists and how it will serve your goals
What are the elements that make up this project? Think of this as an initial scope of work. This will serve as our main checklist to make sure everything is included and what purpose each included item will serve. In relation to the website this will include a list of all the routes/pages and the proposed content, as well as a very rudimentary layout of interactivity and functionality.
A text based constitution of the proposed scope of work and special features that will be included
You have a list in your mind already of what you like and don't like about your current brand, website, and collateral. There have also been many things that have caught your attention in a good way or in a bad way. You have used features on websites that have simplified your life and ones that have annoyed you thoroughly. It is time to put all that research to work. We will gather a list of websites, designs, and features that you love and also the things you want to avoid.
1) Features that you love
2) Websites that you love
3) Sample designs that you love
4) Things to avoid
A list of features and design samples (a scrapbook of ideas) that will best serve your brand and goals
If during the research phase of the discovery process it is decided that rebranding is necessary, then that will need to take place before moving on to this phase of the document. Your branding will influence everything in this phase. Our branding package includes logo, font, tag line, colors, and style guide for implementing your brand across different platforms.
Major thematic components (MTC) are repeatable elements that are used over and over again that strengthen and tie in with your identity.
1 sketch/infographic for each Major Thematic Component (MTC)
This is a style guide that will be implemented throughout the website and, when possible, should be carried over into your collateral and other marketing materials.
A document that houses all MTC’s in addition to your color scheme palette and typography selections.
Highly successful websites have a well thought out hierarchy of information. We will connect the most important content with a navigation that scaffolds your content goals. This will be represented in an Information Architecture sketch. For clients with already established websites part of this phase will involve a thorough inventory of your current content and deciding what content needs to stay, what content needs to go, what content needs to be modified, and what content needs to be reorganized.
Sketch of the Information Architecture
We will storyboard examples of user interaction on the site to make sure we create a flow that is intuitive and provides the information each type of user needs access to in the most effective way. These stories will guide the UX Design.
We will also conduct interviews (when possible) with current site users (if you currently have an active site).
A text document outlining our findings
We will brainstorm the different types of pages necessary based on the user flow case studies and how they will adapt for different devices.
A sketch/mockup of the different types of pages (ie. landing page layout, blog section, standard informational pages)
We will outline the different types of users that will have access to the administration area and what types of access they will have.
This is particularly important for companies that have multiple people managing different areas of the site or for sites that have subscribers and different access levels for subscribers.
A diagram that shows user permissions, admin capabilities, and on-privileged user limitations
We will do a thorough research of your website’s current standing online as it relates to marketing and create a customized plan for you to reach your target market and increase your online footprint. It is great to have a beautiful website and stunning marketing materials, but if no one sees them, then, in the end, they are beautiful yet ineffective tools. We will show you how to put those tools to work by creating an analysis and strategy document that contains:
1) On Site Optimization Strategy Explained
2) Keyword (Key phrase) Research With Statistics
3) Backlink Analysis & Strategy
4) Competition Research
5) Social Media Analysis & Strategy
6) Hashtag research & Strategy
7) DA (Domain Authority) and PA (Page Authority) Research
8) Link Diversification Strategy
9) Additional Online Marketing Strategies
A step by step detailed plan to reach your target audience, including a document that provides a wealth of information related to how you can market yourself online as well as optional services that would benefit your marketing efforts
