The Importance of Great Food Photography

Written by

Great food photography makes people hungry ... and that's great for business.

At The Chart Group, one of our specialties is Food Photography. It's also one of my favorite subjects to shoot. Not just because I get to indulge in a wide variety of amazing food (this is important), but becuase it's always a challenge. Lighting, composition, color, food prep and styling... every creative decision we make for an exposure is like the ingredients used to create the dish. Is that analogy cheesy? Cheesy... get it? Man, I'm on roll. But in all seriousness, great food photography is not only important for a resturants image/brand, it's vital for the success of one's business. If potential customers are anything like me, they are looking online (at home or on their phones) at menu items and making decisions based on what looks good. We want to look at pictures of food and feel hungry! 99% of the time, when I see that certain picture/menu item, I go to that particular restaurant. And not only do I go to that restaurant, but I already know what I'm going to order.
